Razon hikes 918 stations’ gasoline allocation

-

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Avelino Razon Jr. has ordered the allocation of an additional 50 liters of gasoline each month to 918 police stations in second- and third-class municipalities all over the country.

Razon said the additional gas allowances given to police stations would complement the program of his administration for police deployment on the streets to help address street crimes.

He has also ordered the Directorate for Comptrollership to increase the fund allocation for Maintenance, Operating and Other Expenses (MOOE) to support the daily operation of the police stations.

Razon vowed to push more resources and logistics to the field to meet the operational requirements of police units and personnel.

“We intend to develop all the 1,500 city and municipal police stations into ‘fighting units’ for anti-criminality and anti-insurgency operations,” he said.

PNP spokesman Senior Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said there was no standard number of liters for every station. “It depends on how big the town or area is and on the number of PNP vehicles as well,” he said.

According to Director Charlemagne Alejandrino, PNP Director for Logistics, an additional monthly allocation of 46,000 liters of fuel will be pushed down to the police stations to support their need for mobility.

Alejandrino said the additional 50 liters of fuel every month is on top of the regular fuel allocation being received by police stations.

“We are adding more patrol cars and utility vehicles to our fleet this year, and we are increasing the gasoline allocation of police units to support their fuel requirements for increased mobility,” Alejandrino said.  – Cecille Suerte Felipe
