Woman found dead in Port Area

An unidentified woman believed to be a victim of rape was found dead Saturday night in a manhole at Port Area, Manila, police said yesterday.

The body of the victim, who was about five feet in height, 40 to 45 years old, and clad in black shirt and gray shortpants, was discovered at around 8:20 p.m. near Bonifacio Drive at Delpan Bridge.

Senior Police Officer 3 Danilo Vidad said garbage collectors found the victim after the body blocked the drainage channel and caused flooding in the area.

“Her shortpants were below her knees when she was found. So we will checked if she was raped before she was possibly killed and dumped into the manhole,” Vidad said.

Prober said they would still conduct further investigation on the case, starting with the search for possible witnesses of the incident.   – Edu Punay
