Stabbing incidents leave 3 persons dead on New Year’s day

Separate stabbing incidents in different parts of Quezon City left three persons dead on New Year’s Day. Reports reaching the Quezon City Police District-Station 2 identified one of the victims as Jimmy Casido, a 44-year-old construction worker and resident of Barangay Bagong Pagasa.

According to police, the victim’s live-in partner found Casido’s lifeless body inside their house at 1:30 a.m. yesterday.

The victim sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body.

Another victim, Alex Ladilera was stabbed by his drinking buddy at 2:55 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Old Balara.

According to reports reaching the QCPD-Station 6, the victim and suspect Bonifacio Lungos were having a heated argument in the middle of a drinking session.

Having had an “old grudge” over the victim, the suspect suddenly stabbed Ladilera in different parts of the body.

Ladilera was brought to the General Malvar Hospital, where he expired while undergoing surgery.

The suspect, meanwhile, is still at large.

The third stabbing incident in Barangay Pasong Tamo involved a victim identified as Rudy Avanceno Jr., 21 years old.

Police said it was a case of mistaken identity when suspect Avelina Decamo, a 55-year-old vendor, thought the victim was the one who recently stabbed her godchild.

The victim, nicknamed “Totoy,” and a companion were lighting firecrackers at 11:30 p.m. Monday when the suspect accused him of stabbing her godson who is still confined in a hospital.

According to police, the suspect might have mistaken the victim as the same Totoy who stabbed her godson.

During the confrontation, the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest. The victim died while undergoing surgery at the East Avenue Medical Center. The suspect was arrested by the police.          – Reinir Padua
