Police are hunting down a driver who ran off with 800 sacks of cement worth P150,000 intended for a construction firm building the SM shopping mall in Marikina City.
Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz said they have identified the hiding place of suspect Alexander Bulair, a resident of Palmera 6 in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal.
“I’ve already sent a police team to have Bulair arrested,” said De la Cruz.
Domingo Cruz, 43, liaison officer of the Peaksun Enterprises and Export Corp., appeared yesterday before Superintendent Eduardo Villena, head of the EPD’s District Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM), to file a formal complaint against Bulair.
Villena said the truckload of cement was parked at the BF Construction Firm batching plant at the construction site of the SM Marikina City along Barangka Drive.
Cruz discovered the theft on Dec. 26, when workers reporting after the Christmas break, tried to unload the cargo. The truck, however, was already not in its parking area.
Initial investigation showed that Bulair and an unidentified companion took the truck from the plant at 2 a.m. on Dec. 24, telling security guard Mario Palado that he was instructed to bring the truck to another destination.
The truck was recovered around 5 p.m. on Dec. 26, abandoned and empty, along Halamanan Area, Litex Commonwealth in Quezon City. – Non Alquitran
