Navotas distributes P1-M ham to poor families

The Navotas City government has distributed P1 million worth of ham to 10,000 poor families as part of its yearly “Ham for the Poor” program.

Mayor Toby Tiangco directed the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to lead the distribution of the processed pork legs last Dec. 21 at the city hall grounds.

CSWDO chief Pat Agcaoili said the ham-giving is a tradition promoted by the local government under the Share-a-Blessing program since Tiangco’s first term in office three years ago.

“We believe that sharing is the true spirit of Christmas,” Agcaoili said.

The city government has also released its officials and employee’s 14th month pay last Friday.

“We really want the Navoteños to feel the spirit of Christmas. After all the challenges that beset our country this past year, still there are many good reasons to thank the Lord for and to hope for a wonderful New Year,” said Tiangco. – Jerry Botial
