Two garbage trucks kill woman on motorbike

A woman was killed after she was run over by a garbage truck yesterday afternoon on Litex Road in Quezon City.

Reports reaching the Quezon City Police District identified the victim as Elsie Malin, 35, a resident of Kasiglahan Village in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Malin and her daughter were said to be riding a motorcycle driven by her husband, Quirino, towards Commonwealth Avenue at around 1:40 p.m. when their motorcycle collided with a garbage truck (WFD-225) driven by Roderick Mata.

Malin was thrown onto the opposite lane and was run over by another garbage truck (TTL-377), driven by Noel Brogada.

Malin was brought to the nearby Far Eastern University Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Malin’s husband and daughter sustained minor injuries.

The parties involved in the mishap are reportedly negotiating over a settlement, but police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries could still be filed against the two truck drivers. – Reinir Padua
