Bunevacz says business partners beat him up

-

Triathlete David Bunevacz recently filed a complaint before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against four of his business partners, claiming that they beat him up and took P11 million in valuables from him last month.

Head Agent Sixto Burgos Jr. of the NBI’s anti-kidnapping, hijacking and armed robbery division said Bunevacz went to their office last Dec. 5 upon the recommendation of Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr.

Burgos said that based on initial information they received, Bunevacz was an investor in a Beverly Hills 6750 clinic in Makati and that he was reportedly accused of misusing P18 million of the company’s earnings.

Sometime last month, he said he went to a business associate’s house in Greenhills, San Juan, where four men reportedly boxed his ears and took his P1-million Hublot watch, P10-million Porsche, and P6,000 cellular phone.

Bunevacz’s business partners have refused to issue a statement, but STAR sources said they plan to initiate legal action against him.

According to previous reports, Bunevacz’s business partners called for an audit after he gave his wife, Jessica Rodriguez, a vehicle worth millions of pesos when the clinic was reportedly losing money.

Burgos refused to disclose the names Bunevacz had included in his complaint, but added that the NBI has provided the triathlete with security personnel. Bunevacz told Burgos he would hire personal bodyguards.

However, the NBI could not yet conduct a thorough investigation of the case “since we are still waiting for them to submit supporting documents. They are currently out of the country but his lawyer informed us that Bunevacz and his wife would be returning home soon,” Burgos said.

Burgos added that while he did not impose any time frame for Bunevacz to submit the documents, it would be better if the complaints decide soon whether or not to pursue the case.   – Evelyn Macairan
