Used oil spills into Muntinlupa creek

-

Foul-smelling used oil was flushed from a wastewater drainage system in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City into a creek in the area, officials said yesterday.

Tom Landrito, chief of the city’s Lake Management Office, said in an interview over radio station dzBB that the drainage system is located in Villa Carolina 1 subdivision.

He said the oil could have come from the wastewater released by several factories in San Pedro town, Laguna, adding that his office is acting to prevent the spill from reaching Laguna Lake.

Landrito said they received information that used oil was being flushed from the drain into the creek, which straddles the border between Muntinlupa and San Pedro, at around 8:30 a.m. yesterday.

He said authorities had to mop up another oil spill in the creek in late November.
