Bus firms pull out of Ayala Center

-

Starting today, bus companies will no longer utilize Ayala Center’s Park Square 2 as a sub-terminal for their operations, according to a statement from Ayala Land Inc. (ALI).

Buses that had been using the Park Square 2 open parking lot shall originate directly from their respective main terminals and shall be accessible by commuters there or via bus stops along EDSA, Ayala Avenue, and Taft Avenue, depending on their respective routes and destination.

“Bus operations within the Ayala Center have to be modified due to the ongoing developments including the scheduled closure and redevelopment of the Park Square 2 area for the new hotels to be built in partnership with the Kingdom Hotel Investments. As it is the area has become too congested to operate efficiently, making it best for all for the bus companies to modify their operations,” ALI’s statement read

The main terminals of buses serving routes south of Metro Manila, including Laguna and Cavite, are mostly located along EDSA, Magallanes and Leveriza and are accessible by jeepney and FX shuttles from Ayala Center.

Ayala Center has set up a hotline at 706-0618, accessible everyday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., to assist commuters with information on how and where they can access bus services to and from Ayala Center, as well as all other transportation concerns they have due to the developments being undertaken in the area.

Additional lighting and seating areas are being installed at the bus waiting area underneath the Ayala Metro Rail Transit station.

On the other hand a new FX terminal has been set up at Level 1 of EDSA Carpark, right behind Hotel Intercontinental and SM Makati while a new jeepney terminal is located at Level 1 of Park Square 1. Directional signs to these transport facilities have been deployed throughout Ayala Center for added convenience and information.
