PASG intercepts smuggled fireworks

-

Agents of the Presidential Anti Smuggling Group (PASG) seized some P4.2 million worth of assorted pyrotechnics that are suspected to have been smuggled from China after a raid in an old house in Binondo, Manila last week.

PASG chief Undersecretary Antonio Villar led the raid on the house that was converted into a warehouse last Nov. 16 at No. 514 Asuncion St. in Binondo.

The establishment is owned by Tosaka Trading, a local company licensed to sell only locally-manufactured firecrackers.

The raid yielded over 600 boxes of pyrotechnics, many of which are suspected to be illegally imported from China.

“We had to take immediate action on the reported storage of illegally imported firecrackers as this could pose a big risk to the residents in the area,” Villar said.  – Paolo Romero
