Worker killed in Mandaluyong

Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a billiard hall in Mandaluyong City yesterday, killing a 32-year-old construction worker and wounding a 14-year-old boy.

The victim, Allan Cabanganan, a native of Quezon and residing at Welfareville compound in Barangay Addition Hills, sustained eight bullet wounds in the head and body. He died on the spot.

Felamer Nicanor, was sleeping on a plastic chair when he was hit by a stray bullet in the left foot and right hand. He is now being treated at a hospital.

Senior Police Officer 4 Jaime Masilang said Cabanganan was about to take his turn at the billiard table at 4 a.m. yesterday when the gunmen opened fire at the billiard hall, located in Welfareville Compound.

Alexsaldy Mantes, 36, the victim’s opponent in the billiard game, said he was adding up his score when he heard gunshots. He told police that the gunmen were firing from behind a parked tricycle.

Cabanganan’s brother, Arial, said the victim had just arrived from Quezon province and his only enemy was a certain “Nep.” He said he does not know why his brother was killed.

Police recovered five empty shells from an M-16 armalite rifle at the crime scene. – Non Alquitran
