Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has inaugurated a new health facility in Barangay Payatas B to deliver basic health services in the area, which has a large concentration of informal settlers.
The new health facility in Lupang Pangako brings to 19 the total of health centers built by the city government since Belmonte assumed his post in 2001.
The city government, under Belmonte’s administration, saw the need to increase investments in primary health care to strengthen services at the barangay level and promote family and nutrition programs among the city’s poor.
Belmonte has allotted some P242 million for public health services this year, which is P40 million more than the P202 million allocated in 2006.
Of this amount, P44 million was spent on the construction and repair of health centers. – Perseus Echeminada
