Two men were killed after unidentified suspects attacked them in two separate incidents in Taguig City Thursday night.
Police investigators identified the first victim as Arwin Padillo Jr., a house painter and resident of Nissan Street in Barangay Sun Valley, Parañaque City.
Initial investigation showed that around 9:15 p.m., the victim and his cousin, Alex Castillo, 18, were walking near the Nichols-Bonifacio Gate 3 in Barangay Western Bicutan when eight unidentified men suddenly blocked their way and announced a robbery.
The suspects, armed with knives, divested them of an undetermined amount of cash.
However, before leaving, one of the suspects stabbed Padillo in the face. The latter fell on the pavement while Castillo ran away and asked for help.
Chief Inspector Celso Rodriguez, chief of the Taguig Police Investigation Section, said Padillo was already lifeless when his cousin came back for him.
Meanwhile, 38-year-old Danilo Corbano sustained a gunshot wound in the back after motorcycle-riding gunmen attacked him around 11 p.m. along M.L. Quezon Street in Barangay Lower Bicutan.
Police Officer 3 Dennis Salopagio said Corbano was standing in front of a sari-sari store when the suspects attacked him.
Responding policemen brought Corbano to the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City for treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.
The suspects managed to escape. The police said they are conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive of the killing. – Rhodina Villanueva
