JoeCon unopposed as Forbes Park chairman

For the second time, businessman Jose Concepcion Jr. ran unopposed as chairman of the posh Barangay Forbes Park in Makati City.

Official results of the elections from the 18 precincts of Barangay Forbes Park showed that Concepcion garnered a total of 1,212 votes.

Concepcion said his seven kagawad or barangay council members, who also ran unopposed, include Rosanna Fores,1,202; Mariegel Manotok, 1132; Nicole Villonco, 1,115; Glady Velez, 1,097; Bambina Buenaventura, 1,095; Raffy Guevarra, 1,083 and Lucille Villanueva, 1,005.

In an interview with The STAR, Concepcion said the reason why his team ran unopposed in the 2007 elections was that the people in Forbes Park have seen their performance-based public service.

Concepcion said the entire Zobel clan, led by Don Jaime and Fernando Zobel, supported his candidacy.

“They supported me from the very first time that I ran for barangay chairman. In fact, they were among the influential people who asked and convinced me to run for barangay chairman of Forbes Park. We want to be a role model in our country,” he said.

Concepcion said it will be his last term as barangay chairman and he has no plans to run for higher position once his third and last term is finished by year 2010.       – Jose Rodel Clapano
