The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has cited the Quezon City government’s Public Employment Service Office as the most outstanding PESO in the country.
Ignacio Santos Diaz, PESO-Industrial Relations Office chief, presented the citation signed by Labor Secretary Arturo Brion to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. during yesterdays’ flag-raising ceremony.
Santos said DOLE has recognized the efforts of the city government, under Belmonte’s stewardship, to provide employment opportunities through a series of job fairs.
“Quezon City has emerged as the most outstanding PESO in the year 2006,” he said.
Santos presented the award as the city government held a daylong job fair, the 15th for this year, on the city hall grounds. More than 30 firms offered local and overseas jobs during the job fair.
Belmonte earlier directed the PESO chief to hold more job fairs, particularly since Christmas is fast approaching and employers need more workers to meet production demands. – Perseus Echeminada
