NSO: Las Piñas civil registry country’s most outstanding
The National Statistics Office (NSO) named the Las Piñas civil registry office as this year’s most outstanding civil registry in the country.
The NSO cited Las Piñas for its innovative approach in enlisting and updating the basic social data of its residents.
The award, conferred by Administrator and Civil Registrar General Carmelita Ericta, was given during the NSO’s 5th National Convention of Solemnizing Officers in Cagayan de Oro City last Oct. 11.
Mayor Vergel Aguilar lauded the efforts of the civil registry office, headed by Luningning
For the past two years, the city government has conducted an extensive drive to have all unregistered residents, particularly children and minors, be listed with corresponding data as evidence of their being rightful citizens.
Aguilar said it is his goal that no resident of Las Piñas be denied a civil registry record, it being a basic human right and proof of one’s being a legitimate Filipino.
“And with the innovative approach, all newborn and registered residents of the city can secure a copy of their civil certificates in no time,” he said. – Michael Punongbayan
