The Jesus Is Lord (JIL) Church Worldwide is set to mark its 29th foundation anniversary on Oct.7 in a massive prayer rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
JIL founder and leader Bro. Eddie Villanueva will lead the celebration and is set to push for people to submit to God’s rule as the key to progress as individuals and as a nation.
Villanueva, a vocal critic of the administration of President Arroyo, is expected to stress the importance of people committing themselves to truth, justice and righteousness to achieve freedom from the evils of corruption, poverty, injustices and immoral governance.
The JIL said it has over three million members today in 36 countries. Most members abroad are overseas Filipino workers and their families.
Leaders from the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines and the Philippines for Jesus Movement will join hands with Villanueva to call for righteousness, peace and progress for the Philippines.
This ecumenical unity is part of continuing efforts of different Christian communities to strengthen their bond and to offer united prayers for government leaders and for the country to overcome various crises.
Political leaders from the Senate and House of Representatives are also expected to join the celebration. Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno has also confirmed his participation in the event. – Edu Punay
