2 Koreans caught selling fake drugs, supplements

Two undocumented Korean nationals were arrested last Thursday for selling counterfeit drugs in an entrapment operation in Pasay City.

Police identified the suspects as Choeng Joeng Jo, 43, a salesman of TAI Handicrafts and Youn Kjyung Kwon, 32, the manager of the same store. Both are residents of Legaspi Tower on Roxas Boulevard in  Manila.

Probers said the two failed to show any permit from the Bureau of Immigration (BI), making them illegal aliens. The suspects also failed to show any permit from the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) to sell drugs.

Investigator Inspector Ricardo Feliciano said the two were arrested in an entrapment operation at the PNB Financial Center along Gil Puyat Avenue where the two sold to an undercover agent counterfeit drugs.

It was gathered that the Koreans were named in the search warrant applied by elements of the PNP-High Profile Case led by Senior Superintendent Joel Coronel.

Pasay City Judge Edwin Ramizo of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 14 issued a search warrant after the police showed basis for the confiscation of some P500,000 worth of products such as shark cartilage supplements, multivitamins, noni powder and capsules, and children’s vitamins as well as “plamax,” “hepa-tri” capsules and “paragon albu-max” capsules.  – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Fritsche Bautista
