6 rob Smart Telecoms cell site

-

At least six suspects robbed a Smart Telecoms cell site, taking away batteries from the power source room and carjacking two vehicles owned by the firm late Sunday afternoon in Malabon City.

Police said security guards at the cell site, hired from the Mega Corinthian Integrated Security Inc. (MCISI), reported the incident to the local police.

The guards told police investigators that the suspects carted away eight undetermined batteries for the power supply and stole two white Isuzu Crosswind vehicles (with plate numbers XRT-228 and ZKB-499) parked at the gate of Smart’s cell site along Bonifacio street in Barangay Tugatog.

According to Police Officer 2 Edsel de la Paz, the attack came at around 3:35 p.m. last Sunday.

The suspects timed their entry when the guards were away and forcibly opened the padlocked front gate. They allegedly proceeded to the power source room and took the batteries, shoving the loot in the two vehicles, which were parked by the gate.

The suspects fled on board the stolen vehicles towards M. H. del Pilar street.

The police said they are eyeing a possible inside job but are investigating then incident further.– Jerry Botial
