Tuason says she heads another PIPC

- Evelyn Macairan -

A woman who was recently reported to be an official of the Performance Investment Product Corp. (PIPC) yesterday denied being an official of the foreign trading firm that allegedly bilked $250 million from its rich investors.

An official of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), who requested anonymity, said Cristina Gonzales-Tuason showed up at the bureau’s Anti-Organized Crime Division (AOCD), before 2 p.m. yesterday and submitted her counter-affidavit.

“In her counter-affidavit, it appeared that she denied being connected to the PIPC-British Virgin Islands (BVI).

She explained that she is the general manager of another company whose acronym is also PIPC. She said her company is engaged in information technology and not foreign trading,” said the source.

Her statement contradicted the testimonies given by some of the investor-victims who claimed that Tuason is allegedly the general manager of the PIPC company owned by Singaporean national Michael Liew.

Tuason, however, allegedly admitted that her company had business dealings with the Liew’s PIPC in the past.

“But she clarified that her company merely provided client information and data processing for Liew’s company,” the official said.

Tuason is also expected to file a complaint-affidavit before the NBI Interpol Division. It was Tuason who asked the NBI to locate the whereabouts of Liew.

“We no longer required Ms. Tuason to appear before our office again. We just asked her to submit pertinent documents such as board resolutions, articles of incorporation. All these documents would be compared to the documents we have culled from government agencies,” said Supervising Agent Dominador Villanueva III, NBI-Interpol Division executive officer.

Villanueva said these documents should be notarized and that Tuason should also include papers documenting the operations of the PIPC.

They have also summoned three alleged PIPC incorporators Cristina Jurado, Ernest Sy and Manuel Gonzales to the NBI at 10 a.m. on Aug. 13 to submit their affidavits.
