QC cops downplay bomb threat

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) downplayed yesterday speculations that a bomb threat on a private school along Commonwealth Avenue is linked to President Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

“It’s an isolated case, the usual prank calls,” QCPD director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula told The STAR.

He said the police bomb disposal unit has scoured the premises of the Diliman Preparatory School but found no bomb.

The school, owned by former senator Nikki Coseteng, received a call shortly before noon yesterday warning that a bomb was about to explode.

School officials suspended classes and led their 3,000 elementary and high school students out of the classrooms while police searched the area.

Gatdula said they are now investigating the origin of and the motive for the bomb threat. – Perseus Echeminada
