Taguig City prepares transport hub plan

-

The Taguig City government is planning to establish an inter-modal terminal that will served as the transportation hub of residents going to various parts of  Metro Manila.

Taguig Mayor Sigfrido Tinga said the city is negotiating with High Desert Inc. (HDI) to conduct a feasibility study for the proposed “Future Transport” project that will serve as a terminal for commuter buses, jeepneys, taxi cabs, and FX taxis.

“The project seeks to establish Taguig as a true gateway to the Philippines,” he said.

Tiñga likewise revealed that city hall and HDI also signed a memorandum of agreement to undertake programs that will provide livelihood to residents.

High Desert Inc., a Singapore-based company, is one of the country’s leading manufacturers of food supplements and vitamins, primarily made out of natural products such as honey and bee pollens.

“We, in the city government, are thankful that our partners from the private sector, such as HDI, are beginning to take part in improving the quality of life here in Taguig. While we strengthen our alliance with the private sector, we encourage our constituents to participate in these worth while programs that will ultimately benefit them,” Tinga said.

As part of the agreement, HDI led by Chairman Peter Chia, turned over 10 store kiosks to the Taguig City government. Ten kiosks have already been installed near the Gate 3 of the Department of Science Technology in Barangay Lower Bicutan while 10 more are being constructed in key areas of Taguig.

Aside from the livelihood kiosks, HDI has already completed the construction of four waiting sheds along C-5 Road and two waiting sheds fronting the Taguig City Hall of Justice, and the renovation of student waiting areas and re-painting of walls in the Tenement Elementary School. HDI also donated 15 air-conditioning units to the Taguig Science High School

“HDI Group of Companies would like to be part and support the vision of Taguig to become the premier city. If they can do it in Singapore, Taguig can surely do it,” Chia said.

Tiñga said the HDI group’s participation in the development of the city will be instrumental in changing the way people look at Taguig. – Rhodina Villanueva
