The police yesterday file charges of robbery with homicide against the suspect in the murder of a 16-year-old student more than a week ago in Parañaque City.
Superintendent Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, said Anthony Borines, 19, a construction worker and resident of Access Road, Kalayaan, Pasay City, is now detained at the Parañaque police station.
Borines reportedly went into hiding in Calopanga, Daet, Camarines Sur after the the murder. He surrendered to ABS-CBN’s Gus Abelgas and was later turned over to the Parañaque police.
Though the suspect denied he was the one who killed Ronald Anthony Lim, Estilles said they have with them witnesses who will testify that he shot the victim.
The witnesses claimed that Borines shot Lim after the two struggled over the victim’s Nokia 3250 cell phone unit last April 18. Lim was able to get back his cell phone but the suspect shot him in the head.
Meanwhile, Mayor Florencio Bernabe gave P100,000 as a reward to Abelgas’ source. Estilles said they are still in search of Borines’ accomplice.
He added that Borines was behind many cell phone robbery incidents.
