PNP to DOJ: Resolve ‘killer’ cop case

- Non Alquitran -
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to ask the Department of Justice (DOJ) to fast-track the criminal cases against a policeman tagged as one of the "hired killers" of Pasig City shabu "tiangge" operator Amin Imam Boratong.

It has been more than 10 months since Police Officer 2 Ramil Along was charged with murder for the killing of GMA TV informant German Colisao, but the DOJ has yet to resolve the case.

"The absence of an arrest warrant is hampering our effort in sending Along to jail," Chief Superintendent Ray Roderos, deputy director for administration of the National Capital Regional Police Office and chief of Task Force Talipapa, told The STAR.

Along’s co-respondents in the murder case are Boratong, his wife Mimie and another hired killer, Naser Labay, who are all at large. Along has been listed as absent without leave (AWOL) by the NCRPO since March 2.

Roderos said PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon, through the intercession of NCRPO chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Varilla, is set to request the DOJ to fast-track the criminal case against Along to prevent him from committing other crimes.

During a court hearing last March 22, government witness Samer Palao tagged Along, Labay, Mangotawa Sultan alias MacMac, and Pangkatar Sultan alias Boy Negro as the henchmen behind the "silencing" of his former boss’ competitors and drug pushers who incurred huge debts with his illegal drugs organization.

While Along remains scot-free, he is suspected to be behind the killing of two policemen in Taytay, Rizal; the murder of Palao’s uncle, Glicerio Bahande; and the fire that razed a neighborhood in Pasig City.

Pasig City police chief Senior Superintendent Francisco Uyami Jr. said they have filed arson charges against Palao before the city prosecutor’s office in the fire incident while the Bahande case is still being investigated.

The Rizal provincial police is also still gathering evidence against Along in the killing of the two policemen.
