SPD director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales said a team, particularly from the Parañaque Police Station, is conducting follow-up operations against Anthony Borines, 21, a resident of Access Road, Kalayaan, Pasay City.
"Those who will be able to give details of Borines’ whereabouts will be rewarded with cash worth P250,000," he said at a news conference at the SPD headquarters.
Borines was identified by witnesses as the man who shot Ronald Anthony Lim dead after the two struggled over Lim’s Nokia 3250 cellphone unit on April 18.
Lim, of Singapore street, Better Living Subdivision in Parañaque City, was able to retrieve his cellular phone but the suspect returned and shot him in the head.
Superintendent Ronald Estilles, Parañaque police chief, said they learned that Borines was previously involved in other crimes like snatching and robbery.
"Police already went to his house but he has not showed up there in the past 10 days," Estilles said.
He said a task force led by SPO1 Charlie Bayoca, was formed to oversee developments of the case, including working towards the suspect’s arrest. The police have released a sketch of Borines.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Roland, described his son as a kind person and said they are not aware of the boy having any enemies. "Witnesses even said that my son was calling the suspect ‘kuya (elder brother)’ when he ran after Borines," the Lim patriarch said.
Lim sustained a lone gunshot wound in the head and was brought to the Makati Medical Center for treatment. He expired after nine days. – Rhodina Villanueva
