In an interview, Binay said the voters of Makati deserve to know the candidates for mayor, congressman and other local positions in the coming polls.
"Why don’t we face each other? Let’s debate," Binay said.
He said the debate should focus on the residency of the candidates.
"I’ve lived here in Makati for more than 50 years. I did not run for mayor because I just transferred my residency here. Although Lapid has deed of sale for the purchase of a house and lot in Makati, he transferred to Makati only for purposes of the elections," Binay said.
He also chided boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao for endorsing Lapid. He said Pacquiao decided to hold a motorcade Friday last week in Makati to evade the debate entitled "Engkwentro," which was organized in General Santos City for Pacquiao and his contender in the congressional race, incumbent Rep. Darlene Antonino Custodio.
"I was informed that Pacquiao conducted a motorcade (with Lapid’s group) because he does not want to debate with Darlene," Binay said.
Binay also accused Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) chief Ephraim Genuino of running the campaign of the administration candidates in Makati.
