Noli orders NBP housing done by May
April 13, 2007 | 12:00am
Vice President Noli de Castro ordered yesterday four private contractors to speed up and complete the development of the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) Resettlement Project in Muntinlupa before the rainy season sets in.
De Castro, concurrent chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC), issued his directive to R2 Builders, Lenocia Construction, HG3 Construction, and Linear Construction after he inspected the 50-hectare relocation site within the NBP compound in barangay Poblacion Wednesday.
He said the contractors have to complete their work before the rainy season to avoid difficulties in completing the project by the end of next month.
Around 7,045 informal settlers from the Muntinlupa railways will be resettled in the relocation site by second quarter of this year as part of the implementation of the Southrail project.
"I will not take any excuse from you if you fail to finish this project. It has to be done by end of May," De Castro said.
He also urged the contractors to discuss their concerns in order for HUDCC and the National Housing Authority (NHA) to help in completing the project.– Pia Lee-Brago
