Pasig City Councilor Bobby Eusebio, a son of incumbent Pasig City Mayor Vicente Eusebio, filed his certificate of candidacy Thursday to challenge Rep. Robert "Dudut" Jaworski for the mayoral post in the coming elections.
The elder Eusebio opted to temporarily retire from politics.
Before filing their COCs, Eusebio and his party mates attended Mass at the Pasig Cathedral and proceeded to the City Hall compound where thousands gathered to welcome them at about 6 p.m.
Eusebio vowed to sustain his father’s programs on education, health, social service and livelihood.
An architect, he declared that he is prepared to face the challenge of striking a balance between creating an environment conducive to business and making local government and its services more attuned with the needs of the people.
"With the groundwork laid down by Mayor Vicente Eusebio, which led to the emergence of Pasig City as an economic powerhouse, the challenge for the next administration would be to secure the city’s economic position while ensuring that the economic gains trickle down to the people through a comprehensive public service program," said Eusebio, a Pasig councilor for three terms.
