Fire razes Pasig City building

-
A fire believed triggered by faulty electrical wiring gutted down a three-story building and destroyed property worth P3 million yesterday in Pasig City yesterday. Nobody was injured in the three-hour blaze.

Arson investigator Salvador Noberte said the fire started at the 3rd floor of the LCE Enterprises Building, located at 4 Brixton St. in Barangay Kapitolyo at about 6:45 a.m.

Norberte said a security guard noticed smoke billowing out of the window, which prompted him to seek the help of stay-in workers to put out the blaze.

The building, which was owned by Jose Montano Salazar houses the Daisu garments factory which was shut down five years ago due to losses. The third floor of the building was used as the factory’s warehouse.

Among those burned were stored machines and clothing materials. Also damaged was an emission testing center and a photo studio. Norberte said responding firefighters encountered difficulty in putting out the fire as former laborers of the factory were holding a protest vigil in front of the building.

He said the former laborers denied involvement in the fire incident. – Non Alquitran
