A suspected motorcycle robber was killed in a shootout with Quezon City police officers yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula, QCPD police director, said a police car was dispatched after a police station 3 in Talipapa district received a report about a snatching incident involving two men on a motorcycle without license plates.
A few minutes later the police car spotted the suspects about 4:30 p.m. cruising along Mindanao Avenue. The two men tried to flee towards Congressional Avenue and the police cruiser gave chase.
The suspects were soon cornered at an intersection, but instead of surrendering they chose to shoot it out.
One of the men was shot dead while the other was able to flee on foot into a residential area and is now the subject of a police manhunt.
The police seized a handgun and a black bag believed to be used by the suspects for carrying their loot.
The slain robbery suspect, who remained unidentified, is the third motorcycle robber killed in the past three days by the QCPD.
Two others were slain in Scout Lozano and Mother Ignacia early Wednesday by patrolling officers.
Gatdula has earlier warned criminals that they face the full force of the law if they resist arrest.
