A member of the dreaded "Salisi" robbery gang was arrested Tuesday inside a hospital in Pasig City.
The suspect was nabbed after robbing two physicians of their cellphones and other valuables.
The suspect, identified as Robert Hasal, 30, pretended to be an employee of the Medical City Hospital located along Ortigas Ave., to gain entry in the establishment.
Hasal yielded a HP Ipaq PDA cellphone worth P42,000 and a Swiss Army watch owned by Dr. Rey-An Nino Garcia, 25, and a Nokia 7600 worth P8,000 that belongs to Dr. Yucel Verney Dauphine Estrada, 25.
Police prober PO3 Sandy Baybayon said the two doctors placed their valuables inside their lockers at their quarters located at the 4th floor of the hospital building at 10:40 p.m. and proceeded to the toilet.
When he came back, Garcia noticed that Hasal was inside his quarters.
When he inquired why he was in his room, Hasal told Garcia that he was from the intensive care unit (ICU).
However, Garcia and Estrada noticed that their lockers were forcibly opened and their valuables were missing.
Hasal was about to leave the room but Garcia stopped him and asked to examine the contents of his blue bag.
The bag yielded the missing items.
Hasal denied the charges against him. He said he was inside the hospital to look for a long lost friend.
