850 couples attend Valentine mass wedding

Caloocan City Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri yesterday officiated the wedding of at least 850 couples held in front of the historic Andres Bonifacio Monument.
The mass wedding, which coincided with St. Valentine’s Day, gave couples the opportunity to strengthen or renew their marriage vows, Echiverri said.
It’s also the city government’s way of helping couples who are mired by the expense and the preparation of a wedding, he added.
Echiverri was grateful that more and more residents opt to legalize their unions "because of the importance of a strong family being the foundation of a good society."
The Civil Registry Department reported that aside from the free marriage services the city government will also help in the documentation of the couples’ children.
