Tragic Valentine dance
February 16, 2007 | 12:00am
A neighborhood Valentine dance party in Port Area, Manila turned tragic before dawn yesterday when a jealous guy stabbed and killed a neighbor for not getting a chance to dance with the popular girl in the neighborhood.
According to Senior Police Officer 2 Virgo Villareal, suspect Alan Almazan, 36, stabbed construction worker Rodolfo Cabangangan, 40, six times at around 3 a.m. when the party was beginning to wind down.
Barangay officials had converted a basketball court into a dance hall to celebrate Valentine’s Day last Wednesday.
Witnesses said Almazan was irked because he wanted to have a dance with a pretty girl, who was popular in the neighborhood, but Cabangangan monopolized her attention.
When the crowd began to thin, Almazan approached Cabangangan and stabbed him three times in the back and thrice in the chest to the shock of partygoers. Almazan remains at large.
