Man rapped for reporting non existent carjackings

The Quezon City Police anti-carnapping unit is set to file charges against a man for reporting two non existent carjackings.

Officials still have no idea why suspect Andre Delgado made those stories.

In a report to Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., QCPD director Senior Superintendent Magtanggol Gatdula said Delgado – who also went by the name Andre de Vera – reported a carjacking last year and another last January.

Delgado claimed a Toyota Fortuner SUV was forcibly taken from him by armed men from the parking lot of Ratski Bar and Restaurant, located along Tomas Morato Avenue.

Last Jan. 13, Delgado again reported a carjacking incident, claiming that three gunmen took an Isuzu Highlander van, also along Tomas Morato, from him at gunpoint.

However, a check with the Land Transportation Office on the conduction stickers on the supposedly hijacked vehicles revealed that both of them were assigned to vehicles that belonged to someone else.

Security guards on duty at the parking lot of the Ratski restaurant also told the police that there were no carjackings in the area.

Gatdula said they are now preparing criminal charges against Delgado on orders from Belmonte.

“We are conducting an in depth investigation to determine the real motive of the false report,” Gatdula told The STAR.– Perseus Echeminada
