QC to have 7th ‘super health center’

-
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has signed an ordinance converting the Kalayaan Health Center in Guiraya street, Barangay Doña Imelda, into a so-called super health center.

The ordinance – proposed by councilors Ariel Inton, Restituto Malangen, Jorge Banal, Eric Medina, Ramon Medalla, Victor Ferrer and Francisco Calalay – is expected to benefit patients not only from Barangay Doña Imelda but also from nearby areas.

Once completed, the new health facility will be provided with full manpower requirement and facilities, including a lying-in station, to provide 24-hour emergency clinics.

Super health centers are mini hospitals set up in strategic areas in the city to provide medical services to poor residents.

Dr. Antonieta Inumerable, the city health department officer-in-charge, said the new super health center is the seventh.

The Belmonte administration has prioritized infrastructure development programs, which includes the construction of school buildings, day care and health centers, construction of roads and bridges and improvement of drainage system in a bid to improve city living.

Construction work at the Quezon City General Hospital in Barangay Bahay Toro is also underway to transform the city-run hospital into a 350-bed facility.

Improvement of facilities at the Novaliches District Hospital, another city-run health facility, is also being undertaken. – Perseus Echeminada
