NPD releases sketches of suspects in Valenzuela killings

Northern Police District intelligence unit released yesterday the sketch of the two unidentified gunmen who murdered a homeowners’ group head and a woman Friday in Valenzuela City.

The first suspect was described as 29-30 years old, 5’6’’ in height, with short hair and slim built, while the other was about 29-32 years old, stands 5’5," with military haircut and medium built.

At around 12:30 p.m., Friday, Tomasito Reyes, 35, chairman of a homeowners’ group in Barangay Gen. T. de Leon, Valenzuela City, and his neighbor, Lydia Martin, 53, were gunned down while talking in front of the house of another neighbor Josephine Millares.

The two suspects, armed with caliber .45 pistols, approached the victims and shot them at close range.

Reyes was hit in the head while Martin was also hit in the head and the chest. They both died on the spot.

Witnesses told police that the suspects fled on board a two-door green Honda car parked a few blocks away from the crime scene. They, however, failed to get the vehicle’s plate number.

Police later recovered from the crime scene five shells and a deformed slug for caliber .45 pistols.

Superintendent Rafael Santiago, NPD-District Intelligence and Investigation Division (DIID) chief, said that the gunmen could be hired guns.

He said that the victims’ gunshot wounds showed that their attackers were professional killers.

Santiago explained that professional guns for hire utilize only a few bullets in neutralizing their victims.

Superintendent Billy Beltran, the city police chief, yesterday assured the victims’ respective families that they are working hard for the identification and immediate arrest of the suspects.
