QC collects P1.6 B in 22 days

The Quezon City government had collected more than P1.6 billion in revenues during the first 22 days of this year.

City Treasurer Dr. Victor Endriga reported to Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. that the city collected P1,649,738,634.64 in taxes from Jan. 1 to 22.

Endriga said the tax collections recorded an increase of P294,722,383.90 compared to last year’s P 1,359,016,321.66 collection.

Belmonte thanked the city treasurer for the consistent rise in the city’s revenues, expressing optimism that the collection will reach the P2 billion mark when the Jan. 31 deadline for the extended tax payments expires.

For his part Endriga lauded the 15-member special task force he created to the city’s tax collection efforts "for doing an excellent job."

The special task force has collected P264.5 million during the same period. The city treasurer also thanked the city’s various income generating offices which included the Business Permit Licensing office, Liquor Licensing and Regulatory Board, city accounting, city tourism affairs office, city health department, Market Administration and Development, Department of Public Order and Safety and the Tricycle Regulatory Unit among others.

Business tax, the city’s major source of income registered a gross collection of P994 million, real property tax P111.4; other regulatory fees P100.2 million, transfer tax more than P11 million, amusement tax P5.2 million, community tax certificate P37.7 million, other income P35.7 million and special account P7.4 million.
