Three still unidentified suspects on board three motorcycles robbed at gunpoint the owner of a neighborhood grocery store after withdrawing payroll money from a bank late yesterday morning along MacArthur Highway in Potrero, Malabon.
The suspects made off with P100,000 in cash.
SPO2 Ferdinand Espiritu, officer-on-case, said Zenica Yue, one of the owners of FY Sons, Inc. based in Canumay, Valenzuela, was unhurt while her driver identified as Norberto Jusay, 30, sustained a gunshot wound in the right thigh. Jusay was taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to an initial police investigation, the heist was pulled off at around 10:45 a.m. shortly after Yue withdrew money from a bank in Caloocan City and was on her way back to Valenzuela.
As the victims black Starex van slowed down because of a traffic jam near the Tullahan Bridge, one of the three suspects, who had tailed the victims, got off from his motorcycle, drew a gun and approached the vehicle while his two accomplices acted as lookouts.
The suspect then shot the two front tires of the van and, with the gun butt, broke the window on the drivers seat, shot the driver in the thigh and demanded the bag containing the cash from Yue. The robbers then fled towards Monumento. Jerry Botial
