MMDA announces Metro filmfest parade route

Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani Fernando announces the route for the "Parade of Stars," one of the highlights of Metro Manila Film Festival Philippines 2006.
The parade, featuring the biggest actors, actresses, and directors of the local entertainment industry will be going around Metro Manila on floats to meet and greet their fans. These grand floats are specially designed according to the theme of the movie entries to the annual film festival.
The parade on Dec. 24 will begin on Quezon Avenue, and will head off to España, moving down along Lerma St., going to Quezon Boulevard, turning right to P. Burgos-Roxas Boulevard all the way to Edsa going to Mall of Asia until it reaches President Diosadado Macapagal Boulevard. The parade ends in front of Aliw Theater, Star City, CCP Complex in Manila.
To spice up the float competition, Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), the co-producers of the film festival will be giving away great prizes for this years best float category. The nine featured films are all prepped up to pull off their most grandiose floats yet. Up for grabs among the participants in the film festival are a grand prize of P500,000, a second place plum worth P300,000 and a third place prize of P100,000.
The Metro Manila Film Festival, held annually under the auspices of the MMDA, is an established tradition and gives away some of the most coveted awards in local entertainment.
The yearly film competition is looking at surpassing last years P352 million earnings in gross receipts.
