Bernabe named outstanding mayor

Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr.’s annual Local Government Leadership Award (LGLA) recently named Parañaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe as one of this year’s recipient of the Outstanding City Mayor award.

Bernabe was cited for his leadership, fiscal management and administrative style that boosted the locality’s finances through efficient tax collection.

The mayor’s wife, Lady Maria Fe Bernabe, accepted the award on his behalf from Pimentel himself at the Sen. Ambrosio Room of the Senate Building in Pasay City.

The Outstanding Mayor Award is the fourth recognition to be received by Bernabe this year for exemplary performance in local administration and governance.

Bernabe was cited Best in Fiscal Management by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) during its National Business Conference at the Manila Hotel last month. He was also named Outstanding Public Servant by the Consumers Union of the Philippines at the Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel last October.

Bernabe received a special citation for City With Great Potential from the Alliance of Healthy Cities, a project of the World Health Organization (WHO), in Singapore also last month.

"I would like to thank all those who have helped me implement the projects and programs that I have initiated for the benefit of our city and constituents," he said in a statement after receiving the award. — Michael Punongbayan
