8 immigration officials summoned

A Department of Justice fact-finding panel subpoenaed eight Bureau of Immigration officials to explain their side in the questionable deportation of two foreigners, including one who is an alleged terrorist wanted by the US government.

The panel is investigating why Chinese national Zhang Du and a Vietnamese, Vo Van Duc were deported. Vo is wanted in the United States for alleged terrorism while Zhang is currently on trial for kidnapping.

The immigration officials were ordered to appear on Tuesday by Justice Undersecretary Ernesto Pineda. – Jose Rodel Clapano
