Malabon building owners warned vs fake inspectors

Malabon City Mayor Canuto Oreta warned his constituents yesterday to watch out for three men impersonating as building inspectors and extorting money from building owners.
Oreta directed Local Building Office (LBO) chief engineer Edgar Yanga to coordinate with city police officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Ramon de Jesus to identify and arrest the suspects.
Oreta said his office have been receiving reports of three men passing themselves off as building inspectors. They would make rounds in the city and coerce building owners to shell out money in exchange of dropping charges for imagined building code violations.
The three would introduce themselves as men from Yangas office and are authorized by the LBO to conduct building inspections.
Yanga urged the public to immediately contact his office if they show up, assuring that his office has not authorized anyone to collect money from building owners. Pete Laude
