TESDA roadshow in Caloocan

-
A roadshow launched by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) aimed at jobseekers will be at the Manila Central University (MCU) in Caloocan City today.

According to TESDA director-general Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco, the so-called "Career Caravan" hopes to open career opportunities to young residents and job hunters in the Camanava area, comprised of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.

Caloocan Mayor Enrico Echiverri, who has been active in implementing projects aimed at giving various opportunities to the local residents, will grace the event.

Syjuco said the Career Caravan will highlight the advantages of the so-called "ladderized education program" being pushed by the Arroyo administration. The program is aimed at closing gaps in the educational system and economy. TESDA personnel will explain the program’s advantages.

After Calooocan, Syjuco said, the Career Caravan will push on to other parts of the country during the month.

The caravan will also hold activities to help participants how to find the right job opportunities for them.

Among these are competency assessment, job fairs, and career counseling. They will be offered to those interested to join the ladderized education program.

Syjuco emphasized that the program’s objective is to "empower" Filipinos by helping them find jobs.

"Empowerment, because Ladderized Education offers you the opportunity to take control of your life, equip yourself with the skills and competencies you need to get a job, earn an income, eventually fulfill your dream of finishing college or beyond, and liberate you from the shackles of poverty, helplessness and hopelessness."
