P1.5-M epektos nasabat

Nasabat ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Customs (BoC) ang tinatayang P1.5 milyong halaga ng mga kargamento tulad ng mga matataas na uri ng baril kahapon ng umaga sa Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) sa Maynila.

Ayon kay Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales, naharang ng mga operatiba ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CISS) ang pitong container vans ng mga misdeclared shipments na nanggaling mula sa China, Japan, Hong Kong, America at Belgium.

Kabilang sa mga consignees ng shipment ay ang Bagwa Trading, Little Angle’s Trading Inc., Navidish Export, Majesca Import Export Corp., Chagwaten Enterprises at DMP Brokerage.

Dumating ito ng MICP sakay ng M/V Cape Canaveral, OOCL Achievement, Cosco Shanghai, Noble, Pres, Truman at NYK Atlas.

Nabatid na misdeclared ang mga items ngunit nang buksan ang mga ito ay nadiskubreng naglalaman ng ilang high-powered firearms, magazines, espada at iba pang bladed weapons, sibuyas, washing chemicals, toothpaste, used engines, used tires at right-hand drive vehicles.

Inirekomenda ng CIIS ang warrant of seizure and detention dahil sa paglabag sa probisyon ng Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP).

Nagsasagawa na rin ng imbestigasyon ang BOC upang masiguro kung may pananagutan ang importers at brokers at kapag kanila itong napatunayan ay haharapin nila ang kasong kriminal at administratibo. (Gemma Amargo-Garcia)
