Muslim community backs QCPD anti-terror drive

Muslim leaders in Quezon City assured the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) of full support in the campaign to thwart terror attacks in the city.

The expression of support took place during a recent meeting between QCPD director Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan and Muslim leaders during a dialogue held at Camp Karingal the other day.

"The leaders of various Muslim communities conveyed assurance of their support to the police," Radovan said in his report to Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr.

The Muslim groups, led by Col. Jameel Jaymalin of the Muslim Consultative Council, vowed to keep watch on their respective communities for the presence of terrorist that may use their areas as staging points for a possible attack.

Top police officials, among them Senior Superintendents Roger James Brillantes Jesus Acpal and Elmo San Diego were also present during the three -hour dialogue.

During an open forum, Radovan presented Muslim leaders photos of wanted terrorists in the country.

The dialogue was held after intelligence reports indicated that groups planning bomb attacks may seek sanctuary in Muslim communities scattered in various parts of the city.

The Muslim Consultative Council serves as the coordinating body of the city government in addressing the needs and the problems affecting the Muslim residents of the city. – Perseus Echeminada
