QC government, DOLE to launch skills mapping project

- Perseus Echeminada -
The Quezon City government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will formally launch a skills mapping project dubbed "Skilista" at City Hall on Monday.

Actual registration, however, will start the next day, city public employment service office (PESO) chief Ignacio Santos Diaz Jr. announced yesterday.

Santos Diaz, in his report to Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., said about 13,000 unemployed residents are expected to register during the pilot implementation of the skills mapping project in eight Quezon City barangays. These barangays are San Jose, Capri, Escopa 1, San Vicente, Talayan, Fairview, Socorro and UP Village.

The project aims to allow effective employment facilitation service in matching available jobs and skills requirement for both foreign and local labor markets.

Skills registration centers will be put by the DOLE-NCR in the eight barangays for the purpose of maintaining an updated registry of their available workforce.

This will serve as baseline data for labor market policy planners, employment service providers, training and education providers, employers and potential investors.

Under the Skilista project, a registered jobseeker’s qualifications will be downloaded to the internet, through Phil-JobNet, an automated and job matching system.

Meanwhile, the PESO announced there will be a one-day activity at the PESO office at the 7th floor of City Hall for the hiring of accounting clerks, treasury clerks, RDU clerks, female cashiers and male sales clerks. SM Supermarket will be hiring qualified applicants.

Applicants must bring 2x2 photos, SSS card/E-1 form and a valid ID. They should be college graduates and should not be more than 26 years of age.
