President of United BF homeowners arrested

The Parañaque police arrested yesterday the president United BF Homeowners’ Association Inc. (UBFHAI) on charges of estafa filed by a former chief of police of Muntinlupa City.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Aida Estrella Macapagal of the Parañaque Regional Trial Court Branch 195, a team led by Senior Police Officer 2 Sergio Antonino apprehended Celso Reyes inside the UBFHAI clubhouse located on Pilar Banson street, BF Homes Subdivision, Parañaque City, around 11:30 a.m.

Senior Inspector Francisco Villamena, one of the arresting officers, said Reyes was very cooperative and immediately went with them.

He was first brought to the Parañaque Community Hospital for a medical check-up and later sent to court.

The complainant, former Muntinlupa police chief Reynaldo Navarro, is also a past director of the UBFHAI.

Reyes said Navarro filed an estafa case against him in the middle of last year over misappropriated funds.

However, he claimed it was Navarro’s way of getting back at him since his group also filed charges of estafa and falsification of private documents against the former UBFHAI director.

Reyes said they had once been rivals for the position of president of UBFHAI.

The UBFHAI head is expected to post bail, which was set at P30,000. – Rhodina Villanueva
