TESDA launches Career Caravan

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director general Secretary Augusto "Boboy" Syjuco has announced the launching of the nationwide "Career Caravan" to bring career opportunities directly to young Filipinos.
Syjuco said the Career Caravan will highlight the advantage of the "Ladderized Education Program" being pushed by the national government, aimed at closing the gaps in the educational system and economy."
The first destination of the Career Caravan was the Iglesia ni Cristo-run New Era University in Quezon City, where experts from TESDA explained the various advantages of the ladderized education system.
The TESDA chief expressed his appreciation to the generous cooperation of the Iglesia ni Cristo, particularly of its executive minister Eraño "Ka Erdy" Manalo, deputy executive minister "Ka Eduardo" Manalo, and INC secretary general "Ka Arnel" Tumanan for allowing TESDA and its partner Commission on Higher Education to conduct the launching of the Career Caravan at their grounds.
Syjuco also thanked the support of CHED Commissioner Nona Ricafort and Iloilo Rep. Judy Syjuco for their help in the launching of the program.
The next stops for the caravan will be the Lyceum Northwestern University in Dagupan City on Sept. 26, the Yñares Sports Complex in Rizal on Sept. 28, and the Lipa Cultural Center in Lipa City on Sept. 29.
The Career Caravan will also go to Puerto Princesa City in Palawan, Cagayan de Oro City, and Cebu City in October and other parts of the country in the coming months.
Syjuco said activities are all aimed at preparing people in finding the right job opportunities.
These include competency assessment, job fairs, and career counseling for those interested in availing of ladderized education.
"Under the Career Caravan, ang trabaho na ang naghahanap ng tao, at hindi ang tao ang naghahanap ng trabaho," he said.
