September 7, 2006 | 12:00am
A fire that razed a Chinese restaurant inside a mall in Makati City was contained by firefighters less than an hour after it started yesterday afternoon.
No one was hurt in the blaze that started at the kitchen of the Luk Yuen Noodle House located at the ground floor of Glorietta 2 in Ayala at around 1:40 p.m.
After seeing thick smoke coming out of the kitchen, customers ran out of the establishment, which had a door directly leading outside to Westside Drive.
The fire, which reached the first alarm, was declared under control after an hour. Firefighters said they had to clear the restaurant of smoke since its exhaust was being shared by another food store. Michael Punongbayan
