New school buildings inaugurated in Caloocan

Caloocan City Mayor Enrico "Recom" Echiverri led the groundbreaking rites of four proposed school buildings and a covered court in the city yesterday.

Echiverri said that with the new buildings and facilities, he is hoping that school would be more conducive to learning for the students.

The school buildings will rise at the Cielito Zamora Memorial School, Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School, Manuel L. Quezon High School, and Caloocan City North Elementary School, while the covered court will be constructed at the Mountain Heights High School.

Echiverri said earlier that the city government had allocated more that P8 million for the construction and completion of infrastructure projects, including school buildings, for 2006.

Early this year, he inaugurated the completed projects, which include a two-story, eight-classroom building at Maypajo High School in Barangay 35; a two-story, eight-classroom building at Kasarinlan High School in Barangay 28, and a covered court at the Macario B. Asistio Sr. High School Annex in Barangay 14.

Echiverri also recently inaugurated covered courts at the Ma. Clara High School in Barangay 109, Gregoria de Jesus Elementary School in Barangay 68, Llano Elementary School in Barangay 168, Caloocan North Elementary School in Barangay 178, and Manuel L. Quezon High School in Barangay 185.

Covered courts with bleachers were likewise constructed at the Bagong Silang Elementary School in Barangay 176, and the Cielito Zamora High School in Barangay 177.

Echiverri said the City Engineering Office is also constructing a two-story, eight-classroom building with provision for third and fourth floors at the Mabini Elementary School in Barangay 188. Also under construction is the extension of the Caloocan City Science High School in Barangay 68.

The mayor said many other infrastructure projects are being constructed for the benefit of the residents of Caloocan City. — Pete Laude
